Description:

Designs testing scenariosand test cases that will demonstrate conformance to all functional andnon-functional requirements, relative to the test level, as defined in businessor technical specifications.

Executes tasks related tothe production of the Test Plan, test cases, test scripts, and test data.

Analyzes the results ofthe testing process and recommends solutions.

Defines, identifies,collects, and organizes detailed information relating to testing requirements.

Interacts with the projectteam to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical context,and conformance criteria.

Understands and usesappropriate automated testing processes and tools. Stays current on establishedtools, techniques, and technologies.

Maintains security,integrity, and business continuity controls and documents.

Under general direction,performs quality reviews of software to measure performance againstrequirements and procedures.

Reviews group andindividual outputs on a scheduled and random basis to ensure that properprocedures are followed.

Identifies and researchesinefficiencies or inaccuracies in methods and procedures. Proposes andimplements procedural/systems solutions to meet needs and improve overallperformance.

Uses the Rational TestSuite.

Plans, coordinates, andexecutes quality reviews.

Gathers and analyzesquality statistics to determine trends, and documents findings.

Advises SQA Manager inpreparing action plan following each quality review.

Oversees implementation ofprocedural/system solutions to improve quality.

Tests software prior toinstallation in a production environment.

Tests and approvesapplications for operation within an existing infrastructure.

Identifies and/orevaluates new technologies as to their effects on servers and networks.

Documents all test resultsand stores them, using Rational tools, so that they are easily accessible forfuture use and/or further analysis.

Reports to the project’sSQA Manager for both project-level and administrative purposes.

Required Skills

Experience desired supportinga variety of administrative and clinical applications such as Registration,Scheduling, Computerized Patient Record System, Outpatient Pharmacy, InpatientPharmacy, National Drug File, Pharmacy Product System, Care Management, NUMI.

Knowledge of Agile SDLCs,VA’s VIP processes, VA software maintenance and defect repair processes.Experience with both the Rational Jazz platform and CA Service Desk preferred.

1-3 years’ experience inSoftware Quality Assurance and Testing in an enterprise-level IT organizationtesting legacy mainframe and/or web-based enterprise systems.

Four-year degree in anIT-related field, or equivalent experience or certification (i.e., ASQ CSQE) inthe SQA and Software Testing competencies.

Working knowledge of theRational Team Concert (RTC).

Ability to develop, write,and execute test plans and test cases based on requirements documents and usecases.

Ability to clearly,concisely, and confidently communicate with project team members, the client, andthe client’s customers, both verbally and in writing.

“M” (MUMPS) testingexperience preferred.

Java/J2EE-based testingexperience, to include testing web-based user interfaces.

Testing of Oracledatabases desired.

Testing and knowledge ofHL7 messages and messaging protocols desired.

Prior VA IT VistA legacyand/or HealtheVet VistA testing experience desired.

ASQ CSQE certificationdesired.

Experience interactingwith customers during problem analysis and resolution phases. Under generaldirection, utilizing an appropriate testing methodology, analyzes testingrequirements as the basis for developing testing scenarios for a test level tobe executed on a project.
