Job Description:

The Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) is a technologist who works as a part of the product management organization. The TME will work with a cross-functional team to ensure successful product introduction to the market in a wide variety of field, partner and customer engagements.

The TME is a technical expert in the areas of cloud computing, hybrid IT, virtualization. The TME will have the ability to clearly articulate the technical differentiators of products and services within the HPE SDCG portfolio and also work with the Product Management, Product Marketing, Field and other teams to continually improve the products.

RESONSIBILITIES

  • Create design guides, troubleshooting guides, evaluation guides, application notes, technical white papers, presentations, videos and demonstrations for our solutions and products.
  • Build and maintain a demonstration environment for our solutions and products.
  • Support sales, pre-sales and marketing efforts as required. Some travel required to support field and marketing activity.
  • Support product launch activities and assist with Tradeshows, Conferences and Technical Sales Training or Channel Partner Training activities.
  • Respond to customer or field inquiries, assist with Technical RFPs and work with a cross-functional team of PMs, SEs, Engineers as required.
  • Work with the Competitive Team for market and competitive analysis.
  • Lead POC initiatives and support Solution Architect Teams
  • Provide guidance in development efforts/scope with technical documentation and training materials.
  • Develop and provide leading-edge and ongoing product education using video conferencing, formal education, regional office visits and second level technical consulting support for technical pre-sales.
  • Provide technical consulting and installation advice with on-site customer presentations supporting product roll-out, ensuring product specifications are met.
  • Develop solutions to complex software engineering problems, which require regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Advice Product Management and Engineering on product enhancements.

Global:

  • Based on a strong knowledge of trends in the industry affect the strategy/direction of the product line/line of services or solutions.
  • Suggest strategy changes internally and with external partners.
  • Lead projects that involve cross- functional coordination to provide integrated products/services/ solutions.
  • Seen by sales and pre-sales team as an expert in the products/services/solutions and regularly is called on to defend the benefits in front of customers or partners.

Regional:

  • Regularly recommend product/ service/solution strategic direction to senior management.
  • Often create innovative solutions to enhance sales of the product lines or line of services/solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing required. Graduate Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Marketing preferred

Experience:

  • Generating product documentation including solution guides, best practices and tech books
  • Presenting technical material to customers and partners individually and to large audiences such as conferences and trade shows
  • Hands on experience with configuration and management of VMware and Hyper-V
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid IT technologies such as vRealize, OpenStack, Azure etc
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Scripting experience, Powershell and RestAPI for automation
  • Hands on experience designing, deploying, configuring, supporting, and managing data centre technology solutions involving storage, networking, servers, and virtualization
  • Developing and executing test plans including the installation and configuration of IT infrastructure including servers, network switches, and storage arrays.
  • Driving resolution to complex customer issues including troubleshooting of active directory, servers, software, switches, and storage
  • Gathering requirements from customers and guiding them through development via tight communication with product management
  • Extensive customer and field experience is a must.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills required.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise and service provider security products.
  • Prior experience as a TME or Sales Engineer is a must.
  • Software development or scripting capabilities required
  • Driven, with an entrepreneurial spirit and sense of urgency. Must be resourceful, proactive and aggressive.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and possessing a high level of integrity.
  • Team player that works well in collaborative situations and start-up environments.
  • Natural leadership skills and the ability to work with all teams in the company.
