Hewlett Packard Labs is currently seeking highly innovative and passionate interns to work in Silicon Valley to help shape the future of HPE’s enterprise information technology business. The ideal candidate will be a student with a background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Large-scale distributed systems
  • Operating systems internals, design and development
  • Storage systems, key-value stores, file systems, and/or database systems
  • Compilers
  • Automatic memory management, garbage collection
  • Lock-free programming
  • HPC software stack (e.g., MPI, GASNet, Libfabric)
  • Use of emerging hardware technologies (e.g., multi-core processors, non-volatile memory, fabric-attached memory, remote direct memory access, GPUs)
  • “Big data analytics” computing (e.g., MapReduce, Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, BigTable)
  • Dynamic resource management and scheduling
  • Management of performance and quality-of-service
  • Reliability, availability, and fault-tolerance
  • Computer architecture
  • Internet services and/or cloud computing infrastructure or middleware

Must be enrolled in a computer science or computer engineering university degree program.

Candidates should have strong programming skills (especially C and Java) and experience with Linux is also a plus.

We will also consider candidates with strong backgrounds in other areas of computer systems, networking, computer security, parallel programming, and performance modeling and measurement.

Our labs have ambitious cross-disciplinary research projects, which aim to demonstrate our research and technology advancements via prototype systems as well as through pilots with customers and HPE’s own global organizations.
