Project Manager

HP Technology Consultants work closely with our clients to understand their business needs and design and deliver innovative HP and partner technology solutions. As a trusted advisor you will be responsible for creating and maintaining effective customer relationships and demonstrating your expertise of leading edge technologies to help frame HP solution around strategies developed with its clients. As part of an HP or customer project team you will help shape technical direction for customers and actively develop HP’s solutions portfolio through experience gained in projects. You will contribute to HP’s success by generating revenue through your chargeable utilisation to consult with clients, architect, design and deliver new solutions, identify new business opportunities and by providing technical input into deal proposals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide Technical Consulting support to a range of customers and projects
  • Liaison with Customers to help devise technical requirements & solutions
  • Provide Technical Workshops and Architect solutions
  • Delivery and ownerhip of high-level and detailed designs
  • Delivering, implementing and testing
  • Provide technical support to Customers during Infrastructure Transformation
  • Effectively applying technical knowledge in pre-sales activity
  • Sharing knowledge and experience through formal and informal knowledge management initiatives

Candidates should hold or be working towards CCIE certification in Routing & Switching, have significant experience of working in an IT consulting & implementation environment and be expected to develop business justification, to architect, design and deliver enterprise scale resilient & redundant Network (LAN/WAN/Wireless) infrastructures for application of (but not limited to) Data Centre, Cloud, Virtualised and Converged Environments.

Candidates should have both broad and deep experience-based knowledge of relevant technologies, architectures and methodologies, gained through genuine involvement in the implementation of large scale, complex, and multi-technology transformational solutions.

You should have an excellent practical working knowledge of Switching & Routing, L2 & L3 protocols, MPLS, Network analysis tools, Security solutions (such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention), Network Management applications and their application to real-world business problems in large-scale customer environments. Knowledge of the following related technologies will also be useful: VOIP, Unified Communications, Network Optmization/packet shapers and WAN acceleration, load balancers and /or backup & storage.

Candidates should possess an awareness of the competitive landscape and preferably hold certifications within associated product groups. They should be able to explain the complexities and implications that arise from different design options and implementation methods, articulate the business benefits to the customer and be able to prioritise these benefits amidst other decisions and options facing our clients.

Candidates should have experience of working with customer stakeholders and technical decision makers and be able to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner appropriate for the audience. They will have demonstrable experience of winning and delivering projects and be able to clearly articulate their contribution in terms of vision, leadership and execution. Experience of project management tools and methodologies will be useful and candidates should be self-driven and organised, capable of working with and leading teams as wells as being self motivated to work in isolation and independent of direct support. An ability to express themselves well in writing is important, as is demonstrating proficiency in consultative, workshop, presentation and facilitation skills.
