Program Manager Emerging HPC Technologies

Job Description:

Technical program manager that leads investigation into technologies intersecting architectures and systems three to eight years out. Working with a small team of technologists and / or domain experts you will identify and investigate future technologies centric to high performance computing (HPC) and engage directly with customers to understand how these can be applied to solve problems that are central to their business. You will manage an ongoing process to identify emerging market requirements and articulate critical feature sets and assess strategic component and technology suppliers.


  • Provide project leadership and structure in the identification and investigation of emerging HPC technologies and future products
  • Direct the development of overall project strategy and budget
  • Identify and engage with strategic component suppliers whose products are deemed to be critical for the development of new classes of HPC systems
  • Identify and engage with customers whose anticipated business compute attributes directionally align with HPC systems
  • Work with technologists in the development of use cases that are anticipated to exploit future technologies
  • Engage with marketing to consider features suitable for market research and adoption, customer engagement and potential product line fit
  • Provide periodic written reports detailing investigations, findings, results, and recommendations

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent
  • PMP/PMI certification preferred
  • Minimum 10+ years experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Working experience with HPC systems is required
  • Demonstrated program management experience, business acumen, understanding of organizational strategy, and successful experience managing all aspects of cross-business unit programs, including communicating with internal and external customers and working through matrixed teams and resources
  • Design and development experience with HPC computer architectures, memory systems, or high speed interconnects / fabrics is required
  • Direct experience investigating and identifying technologies and their application to the solution of problems is highly desired
  • Proven ability engaging with customers regarding the cost / benefit capabilities of new technologies to their business
  • Experience with developing product definitions, and bringing new technology products to market is desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English
  • Ability to effectively communicate program goals, plans, proposals, and results
