Principal Network R&D Engineer - Routing

Job Description:

Aruba HPE is a leading provider of the next-generation network access solutions for the mobile enterprise. Our high performance controller platforms is a key part of the solution. We are working on exciting new architectures to enter new markets like SDWAN. We are looking for strong Layer2/3 protocol developers with eagerness to innovate and thrive in a fast paced work environment. Candidate will design, develop and maintain high performance protocol modules in our network protocol stack.


  • Write detailed design specs, develop and unit-test using agile methodology
  • Analyze requirements and customer use-cases specific to Layer 3 networks
  • Integrate and port protocol routing stacks to embedded Aruba OS
  • Develop interfaces to management modules, forwarding plane
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have experience in design and development of IP Routing protocols like OSPF, BGP.
  • Hands-on experience in design and development of Routing Infrastructure and Forwarding plane software
  • Multicast Protocols (PIM, MLD, IGMP) experience will be a plus
  • Good understanding of ipv4/ipv6 protocols, ARP handling, ACLs, Policies, QoS
  • MPLS and related technologies experience desired
  • Very Strong C coding and Debugging skills
  • Development experience in Multi-core/Multi-threaded environment on Linux
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at business unit and executive levels.
