Job Description:

As part of the Global Financial Solutions (GFS) - Systems Architecture team, this critical role will engage in and Lead Projects, Business Consulting and support in areas impacting Supply Chain (SC) and Order Management (OM) Finance. Impacted areas include SCOM, GL, Tax, inventory and cost accounting, intercompany, logistics, freight expense, procurement, inventory transactions - returns, goods receipt, goods issue, customer invoicing, revenue recognition, accounts payable for inventory purchases, accounts receivable, Intercompany, Procurement, Inventory accounting, Finance master data, etc.

Drives the implementation of best in class financial systems providing relevant, timely, and accurate financial information for financial planning, decision-making, control and risk management, and internal and external performance measurement. Works with Finance and Information Technology to design, construct, and implement financial and business processes and systems requirements globally such as a new reporting system. Develops design requirements for implementing new systems. Determines type of functionality needed in a new system (e.g., designating the business required documents in implementing a new reimbursement policy). Implements processes and tools that support efficiency initiatives.

This dynamic individual will be a Senior SME (subject matter expert) within GFS and will have the opportunity to engage on a variety of roles including-

  • Projects – Leading business requirements, design solutions, implement SC & OM pan-HP standard capabilities, testing, communicating management of change (MOC). Types of projects will vary but may include Business Innovation, Process transformation, System landscape optimization, Compliance, and Critical Production Support fixes and enhancements.
  • Business Consulting & Support- Support business innovations by providing Finance consulting and ensuring business continuity in the production environment

This is a challenging opportunity to work with Global project teams in delivering and deploying pan-HPE standardized finance processes and solutions and resolving day-to-day or month end close Finance pain points. You will perform as a financial systems and process SME to ensure projects and production support solutions adhere to a global baseline. You will also assist in business process and system design and re-engineering efforts, and be engaged in projects involving development, deployment of SAP upgrades and other automated accounting systems and solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

Finance Projects - E2E & Domain SME in WW projects

  • Independently leads projects teams to design and implementation of a system solution.
  • Troubleshoots independently, quickly finding the root cause of the most complex issues and resolving them.
  • Runs major cross-functional projects of one year duration supported by teams of 20 or more members and oversees several work streams.
  • Partners with internal customers to deliver reports and resolve the most complex issues.
  • Uses in-depth knowledge and research to generate and implement innovative new ideas that will be integral in driving future success for the company across the globe.
  • Solves problems independently and articulates complex issues across functions and businesses, collaborating with other individuals contributors, sometimes outside of the job family, to bring about solutions.
  • Lead POA/RCRB projects, analyze scope impacting finance, determine current and future system requirements, support business in defining business requirements, leverage existing solutions, minimizing need for (IT) changes
  • Ensure financial process architecture compliance and integrity (AFM, SOX, GAAP, SBC, etc.)
  • Ensure delivery of qualitative solutions and timely project completion
  • Drive E2E Finance capabilities deliverables in POA projects in SCOM -Partner with Business, Finance & IT to Drive process & system improvements
  • Translation or requirements into BRs, Design Signoff, Test Cases and Text execution, UAT signoff, Delivery, MOC and Warranty
  • Ensure Change is managed for Finance Users - documented as per CIA and CFA templates, training delivered and timely communications driven
  • Lead on all aspects of the project lifecycle (Requirements, Design, Testing, MOC, and Support)
  • Drive the effective timely delivery of the project deadline and outputs Contribute, plan and be responsible for all aspects impacting finance related to allocated projects
  • Maintain regular and strong communication with stakeholders
  • Ensure quality and high standards are maintained at all times
  • Understands customers' needs, applications, and trends and make sure all are documented as part of the project.
  • Exercises creativity in the design, development, or improvement of major functional processes
  • Contributes to the achievement of goals through personal effort and influence over others in department. Impact is limited to achievement of short-medium term achievement of goals
  • Lead and ensure compliance with US GAAP, AFM (HPE's Accounting Finance Manual), Local Statutory Requirements and all corporate and organizational business and finance policies
  • Lead process improvements that meet business requirements and eliminate inefficiencies
  • Lead special projects and initiatives for the Finance Organization involving cross functional teams and organizations
  • Work with project managers (PM), manage timelines and action items, have the ability to work on and drive multiple projects at a time
  • Work across all IT organizations to ensure quality system design

Projects - Project Steering

  • Active participation in project steering committee and act as the finance representative.
  • Lead steering reviews and drive senior management for decisions.
  • Adapts style and uses persuasion in delivering messages. Issues may be complex or audience perspectives may be divergent or information may be non-routine in nature. Influences the direction of the project. Operates on a global basis managing issues in significantly different cultures and requires awareness, respect and strong ability to reconcile cultural differences on a global basis
  • Accountable for signing off project milestones considering respective domain and other functions that affect domain
  • Address finance and project specific issues and align finance management on strategy and deliverables.

Projects - Drive Finance Capabilities

  • Drive E2E Finance capabilities deliverables in POA projects in -Partner with Business, Finance & IT to drive process & system improvements –Provide Advanced level consulting on Systems and process issue resolution, architecture Design, Trading Structure and Finance flows
  • Drives the implementation of Finance Capabilities and Standards duly balancing between project objectives and Organizational strategy

Projects - Project Sizing & Staffing

  • Carry out POA, RCRB project sizing as a PMT , coordinate resource assignments with Resource Managers

WW Finance Systems and Process - E2E & Domain Consultation

  • Senior & Advanced level Consult on Systems and Process Architecture Design, Trading Structures and issue resolution for finance Users
  • Provide e2e finance coverage – engaging experts from other Orgs where required

Finance Systems and Process - Production User Deep Support, MEC Support & Operational Support

  • Production Deep level Support on a day to day basis and at MEC.
  • Coordination with OOTC to ensure minimal impact of issues
  • RCA and drive resolution for issues reported
  • Job monitoring at MEC
  • Liaison and relationship building with IT teams for prompt resolution of issues and permanent fixes including PMRs
  • Providing guidance for Historical Data Access requests in support of Audit and other investigations

Process Solution Support -MOC Documentation, Training & Guidance

  • Ensure Change is managed for Finance Users - documented as per CIA and CFA templates, training delivered and timely communications driven
  • Provide necessary guidance, training, documentation to ensure 100% E2E stakeholder support is achieved.

Training, Coaching & Mentoring of team members

  • Mentor and train junior members of staff and provide buddy support in projects to enable learning on the go and developing their knowledge to independently execute

Education and Experience

  • 10+ years of overall varied experience. Experience in multiple finance functions preferred along with advanced accounting knowledge
  • 6+ years Advanced SAP Knowledge & Experience including end to end lifecycle experience in multiple SAP Projects covering CO, FI, SD, MM, PS, CA. ABAP knowledge preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance related field is a must. Strong preference for Chartered Accountants / CPAs, MBAs.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced subject matter knowledge and expertise including technical, and cross functional process knowledge combined with the complex legal environment. Expert and in-depth understanding of financial systems and processes in several areas.
  • Ability to independently lead creation of innovative solutions in large projects and provide leadership for implementation, operationalization and management of change
  • Knowledge of HP Financial Systems and Processes is preferred. Experience with Smart buy and other procurement systems a plus
