Java Developer

The HUD SAMS team is in the process of developing a Java-coded replacement for the current SAMS application and requires experienced Java Developers to assist in the project. A Java Developer will be responsible for the interpretation of the business logic gathered from the current SAMS application and how it would then translate best into Java. The Developer will be expected to be disciplined enough to be able to work with little oversight. The development project is being scheduled as an Agile application, utilizing Scrum as the framework, so the developer will be developing on a rapid deployment schedule. The development team are also tasked with designing new ways of integration and deployment to be conducted, presenting ideas to the team for review.

The SAMS application development team intentionally has a significant amount of freedom to design the new SAMS application as the team deems best, but while still adhering to project stakeholder demands.

  • Develop and deliver new modernized app to replace a client legacy app.
  • Experience with Java, CSS,HTML, etc.; web services (SOAP, REST, JSON); database platforms; IDEs; Cloud experience.
  • Ability to be forward thinking, adapting to project focus shifts and outspoken on his/ her ideas

Required:

A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar degree combined with work experience.

  • Applicants will have proficiency in Java coding abilities, as well as experience with several application build tools such as Maven, Ant, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Developer will have experience with implementing Java code into an application, especially in a web-based environment.
  • Develop and deliver new modernized app to replace a client legacy app.
  • Experience with Java, CSS,HTML, etc.; web services (SOAP, REST, JSON); database platforms; IDEs; Cloud experience.
  • Experience with web service and server connectivity a plus.
  • Computer Languages: Java, HTML, JavaScript, XML, SQL

  • MVC: Jakarta Struts, Spring
  • Web: SiteMesh, Java Server Faces, Java Server Pages, Thymeleaf
  • Database: Hibernate, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, HSQLDB
  • Servers: Tomcat, JBoss EAP, WildFly, IBM Websphere, Glassfish
  • HTTP Servers: IBM HTTP Server, Apache HTTP Server
