IT Developer/Engineer

This position at HPE is for a lead network engineer responsible for data network designs in the 4 Houston and Austin NGDC locations. The engineer will work with the operations personnel in the 4 locations to implement designs created to meet customer requirements. They will be responsible to gather requirements from business/customer requests and turn those into fit for function designs within the NGDC standards. They are also responsible for working with the Lead Architect to create and roll out new standards are required to meet business needs. Design and “hands on” capabilities are a requirement.

Candidate will also work with the various “applied networking” teams as they incorporate those technologies into their designs. (Local and Global Load balancing, DNS, proxy, firewall, IPS functions make up the “applied networking” function.) Some knowledge in these areas is required for clean integration with the teams. Candidate will also help move the datacenter networking form the current “one company” overall design to a more optimized “multi-tenant” environment as we move forward.

Education and Experience Required:

A technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years of related experience.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

8 years experience in large network (LAN/DC) engineering design, installation, administration and operational support.

Must have a background in designing, configuring, integrating and trouble-shooting complex data network environments and associated network appliances such as Firewalls, Load-balancers and IDS/IPS systems.

NFV experience a plus

QinQ experience required.

SPB (MAC in MAC) required

Must have a strong background with TCP/IP and related protocols such as DHCP, WINS, DNS, SMTP, POP3, and SNMP; and networking products such as Ethernet hubs and switches, IP routers and firewalls, analog modems, ISDN equipment and services, IPL/ATM/MPLS circuits.

Knowledgeable in installation and configuration of network hardware, software, routers, hubs, etc.
