The charter of the High Performance Computing (HPC) Competency Center includes as first priority the technical support in pre-sales phase for the most complex & largest customer projects.

This competency center is defined at European level & we are seeking a highly motivated pre-sales consultant.

Architecture work for these customer opportunities involves the definition of complete solutions covering the different aspects of High Performance Computing, High Performance Interconnect, High Performance Storage, High Performance Graphics. The candidate should possess expertise in several emerging/leading edge solution technologies and products in the domain of High Performance Computing. He/ she will ensure the solution configuration (of hardware and software) meets the mutually agreed upon configuration and testing criteria. The person will provide technical support support during the whole project engagement.

Responsibilities

Following responsibilities are considered for this pre-sales consultant job:

  • Gathers and assesses customer needs, both business and technical
  • Identifies related needs (lead generation, opportunity expansion)
  • Defines optimized architecture aligned with technical & business requirements
  • Possible involvement on proof-of-concept & benchmarking
  • Identifies site-specific customer parameters and constraints that impact the solution
  • Identifies likely problem areas that require attention (risk management)
  • Architects an appropriate technical solution to meet the customer's requirements with optimized cost & margin
  • Establishes the validity of a solution and its components
  • Assesses likely competitive threats and identifies HPE specific differentiators
  • Builds customer loyalty through being a trusted advisor
  • Partners effectively with others internal & external partners in order to define optimal solution
  • Actively supports the account team with solution advice, proposals, presentations, and other customer communications
  • Analyzes and provides support to deals in the pipeline where needed

Management of the customer relationship is also a key aspect for this job: communication & influence with customers regarding operational needs, solutions & proposals; becoming a trusted advisor to the customer.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

Technical University degree or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or in a related or relevant field. Candidates with degrees in other areas will be considered if they can show aspects of their background that would support development into the Solutions Consultant role. These include some of the following:

  • IT knowledge (High Performance Computing, Linux, Deep Learning, AI, …)
  • Very strong technical skills in general
  • Excellent team skills
  • Moticated to work with customers
  • Flexibility to learn new areas.
  • Very good English communication - verbal & written
  • Ready to travel throughout EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa)

Knowledge and Skills:

The successful candidate will need to show an ability to become proficient in the following areas. It is not expected that they will have all these skills from day one.

  • Demonstrated study and accomplishment in the area of High Performance Computing (computing, interconnect, storage)
  • Pre-sales experience (definition architecture, answer RFI / RFP, customer presentation,…)
  • Strong customer facing skills
  • Ability to work on several / multiple opportunities in parallel with precise 'dead-lines'
  • Good business sense (relation with sales structure, partners,…)
  • Level of autonomy
  • Planning & Prioritization with the customer
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical consulting in area(s) of expertise.
  • Flexibility to work in 'interrupt' mode (multiple requests, changes due to customer expectations,…)
