The Technical Support Engineer position is with the Web Hosting Team for High Availability and Mission Critical services. This position is responsible for the hosting infrastructure environment, for Intranet and Internet web sites and applications for HPE and HPI customer. The Technical Support Engineer position is responsible for deliverables ranging from technical roadmaps coordination, change management, the maintaining of hosting standards, and application outage restoration and problem resolution.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Manage business unit application hosting integration activities.
Engage with application development teams and or ASTs for project integration and problem resolution tasks.
Provide expertise in application hosting technologies with emphasis on Microsoft, Unix, and Linux based products.
Act as a technical leader within the High Availability and Mission Critical environment.
Willingness to participate in non-standard work hours if requested.
Works in partnership with the Technical Leads as a primary focus on the High Availability/Mission Critical segment of the customer’s business.
Incident and Escalation Management support for the Web Hosting environment supporting multiple technologies.
Support technical project managers and technical leads by driving all technical pre-scoping setup and integration activities.
Provide technical leadership to the business unit application teams regarding High Availability/Mission Critical application implementation projects.
Ensure the solution delivered meets the expected level of quality for HA/MC.
Manage technical escalations and perform outage resolution and recovery in partnership with HPE/HPI Operations Bridges around the world as necessary.
Provide application ownership for all technical issues, and outages for the HA/MC applications.
Planning and coordination of upgrades and growth and technology changes.
Provides technical consulting, recommendations, etc. to the HA AST.
Part of Rapid Elevation Team as escalation engineer.
Assists in developing an annual technology plan.
Communication point between the HA delivery tower and the account team.
Citrix knowledge would be a great advantage.
Strong skills using Microsoft Office products.
Bachelor’s degree in a MIS, CIS, CS or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
HPUX, LINUX, Windows administration.
Formal technical training and industry certifications (Microsoft, Other).
Windows 2003, 2008, 20112, HPUX, Linux Operating Systems, all versions of IIS, Apache, HTTP, HTTPS and content load balancing knowledge.
TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, SSL, PKI, SAN storage and Cluster Technologies, firewalls, load balancers, and website monitoring knowledge.
Weblogic and JBoss knowledge.
C or C programming language knowledge.
Batch, PowerShell scripting knowledge.
Java Scripting knowledge.
Siteminder knowledge preferred.
Basic hardware troubleshooting skills.
Experience documenting technical issues.
HP Service Manager (HPSM) awareness.
ITIL v3 knowledge or certification.
Collect, analyze, present and share data with peers and management (good Excel skills).
Strong Customer Support Skills.
Good communication skills, written and verbal communication.
Ability to work in an autonomous environment.
