Resource Development Worker II

Summary: The Resource Development Worker is responsible for the development of essential resources for organizational clients. These areas include; housing, employment, job training, and special service programs for youths, veterans, women and ex-offenders. This position also works collaboratively with staff from all areas of the organization in developing resources geared specifically to the needs of individual clients. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responds to the requests from all organizational service staff for specific resources staff have identified as necessary to successfully meet service plan objectives of their individual clients.
  • Researches the availability of various resources to determine eligibility, nature of services and other pertinent information that allows case management staff to select the best options for their clients.
  • Maintains an up-to-date resource listing by service category outlining pertinent information and methods of referral.
  • Meets with service providers, landlords and employers to inform of them of organizational program services, negotiate linkages and to provide follow-up services to determine the success of the clients referred.
  • Interviews clients to determine appropriateness of potential referral both from the perspective of the client’s need and the resource referral criteria.
  • Develops screening tools for staff to evaluate the need and eligibility criteria for various resources as appropriate.
  • Develops materials for the case management staff to help them prepare clients for resource referral, such as housing budget planning and proactive employment applications.
  • Instructs clients in budgeting skills, employment interviewing, job search skills and other specific skills necessary to achieve successful referral.
  • Administers funds for client assistance per program policies and procedures, which will help clients access resources.
  • Participates in organizations and coalitions which help promote greater resources for clients.
  • Meets with employees, landlords and service providers to help resolve conflicts that may arise with referred clients.
  • Maintains all required documentation in a neat, orderly and timely manner.
  • Participates actively in all supervisory, unit and organizational meetings.
  • Adheres to professional standards as outlined by governmental bodies, National Association of Social Workers (NASW), private funding sources, organizational plans/policies and Unit guidelines. Participates in periodic evaluative reviews and/or in-house and external staff training to ensure that he/she understands and continues to adhere to such standards. Initiates requests for assistance or guidance from Supervisor to address new issues or complex concepts affecting adherence to professional standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree and two years of experience or five years of experience in the area of resource development. Knowledge of housing, employment and other human services. Ability to work effectively with both private and public sector managers and direct service staff.
  • Other Qualifications: A valid driver’s license may be required.
  • Language Skills: Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • The employee in this position at a residential program may be required to remain on organizational premises during break and/or meal periods.
