Executive Director, Talent

Hearst Magazines is seeking an Executive Director of Talent to work across our portfolio, including Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle. As part of the senior management team, this person will help shape celebrity coverage at Hearst, and be influential in defining how our brands approach, work with, and think about celebrity. This person will report to the Vice President, Content and should have a passion for pop culture and entertainment across all media - music, television, movies and digital, with strong contacts and relationships in these worlds.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of entertainment editors who book talent across Hearst's portfolio of magazines
  • Negotiate bookings, including print covers, digital profiles, videos, and events
  • Work closely with video and editorial teams to come up with creative, buzzy concepts for celebrity content
  • Define success metrics for print celebrity content
  • Use digital analytics to research and test talent and identify audience interests
  • Develop partnerships with celebrities and entertainment companies to increase brand exposure
  • Devise a system to communicate success metrics widely within the company
  • Collaborate with editors on print and digital to leverage talent opportunities 

Requirements:
  • At least 10 years as a talent booker; 5+ years management
  • Deep network of contacts in the entertainment field
  • Must be innovative, experimental, and collaborative
  • Comfortable using digital metrics
  • Good judgment as to what works to drive audience and buzz
