Style & Beauty Assistant Editor, Hearst Magazines Digital Media/Cosmopolitan

JOB DESCRIPTION

Cosmopolitan.com is looking for someone to work with the fast-paced and creative Style & Beauty sections of the site. This individual will cover the fashion and beauty beats and report to the Executive Lifestyle Editor. This position is based in the Cosmopolitan.com office in New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Pitch and write daily fashion and beauty news posts and market roundups
  • Pitch and produce feature-length service pieces, such as beauty tutorials and life hacks, which can involve doing extensive research, pulling props, producing a photo shoot, and collaborating with photographers and designers to create the visuals for the stories
  • Pitch and produce occasional news-style videos
  • Assist the fashion and beauty team with sample trafficking, verifying shopping credits, and research
  • Share Cosmopolitan.com stories, memes, and videos on social media
  • Attend press events and previews when necessary to interface with brands and publicists


Requirements:
  • Experience in a digital newsroom
  • Ability to write quickly in a funny, smart, conversational tone that makes readers want to share your content
  • Ability to think visually about what makes people want to read and share your content
  • Positive attitude, resourcefulness, and dedication
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
  • Extensive knowledge of social media platforms
  • Excellent interview skills and an ability to do original reporting
  • Familiarity with CMS, social media platforms, and analytics tools; either a familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere or a willingness to learn
  • All-around love of the Internet
