Online Copy Editor, Hearst Magazines Digital Media/Hearst Autos

The online copy editor is responsible for the clarity and grammatical, factual, and typographical accuracy of news, review, feature, and in-market content for Car and Driver's digital platforms. The person in this position works closely with the deputy online editor, executive online editor, senior online editors, and online copy chief to maintain quality, tone, and editorial direction.

Primary responsibilities include:
- Proofreading and copy editing all site content to ensure proper grammar and house style
- Fact-checking all site content
- Contributing story, news, and feature ideas
- Shepherding content through the production process
- Liaising with manufacturer representatives to confirm/clarify the most up-to-date information
- Helping maintain and craft social-media presence
- Other duties as assigned

Desired qualities include:
- Minimum three years of experience in automotive media or similar field
- Strong editing ability and sense of grammar and tone
- Ability to manage several tasks at once and switch seamlessly among them
- Strong sense and understanding of vehicle equipment, technology, and dynamics
- Strong sense and understanding of the automotive industry
- Good interpersonal behavior and management skills
- Knowledge of social-media platforms, Apple OS, and a basic understanding of content-management systems
