Editor, Sweet, Hearst Magazines Digital Media/Sweet

Hearst Digital Media is looking for an energetic and ambitious Editor to oversee the editorial direction of the newly launched Snapchat media brand Sweet. This position will report in to the VP / GM of Sweet and the SVP/ Editorial Director of Hearst Magazines Digital Media. This person is responsible for the day-to-day assigning, editing, and visuals for Sweet’s Discover channel and website (www.wearesweet.co).


  • Evolve the vision and point of view of Sweet
  • Assign and create content around that vision
  • Grow the multi-platform audience of Sweet (Discover channel, wearesweet.co, and all social channels)
  • Strategically plan content that provides service, entertainment and insight, and leads the conversation for the Sweet audience
  • Manage a sizable editorial team along with a number of freelance writers
  • Bring new writers, voices to the brand
  • Work closely with the Sweet GM and sales teams on native content and advertising opportunities
  • Collaborate with other Hearst Digital Media sites on content to be shared across sites


  • At least 10 years as an editor, with substantial digital experience
  • Editorial background as a generalist
  • Exceptional taste across topics (fashion, beauty, food, entertainment and more)
  • Strong skill as an editor, tightening and crafting copy
  • Experience managing a team and planning a content strategy
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment with grace under pressure
  • Must possess a fundamental understanding of how to build and grow a digital audience with the ability to translate analytics into editorial insights
  • Must be a collaborator
  • Excellent at producing content with digital-friendly language
  • Versed in using diverse set of analytics tools such as Facebook Insights, Omniture, Chartbeat
  • Open to experimenting with content types and persistent reinvention to create appropriate content for a digital audience
