BASIC FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for constructing forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge. Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements. Supports analytics adoption and execution across business areas. Provides consultation to users and may lead cross-functional teams to address business issues. Responsible for producing datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools. Supports and enables Divisional Data Officers and other Information Stewards in curating the information that will support efficient and effective use of data assets. May perform research and assists in analyzing financial and health data, including medical algorithms to determine health care expenditures, medical and economic outcomes, and cost containment strategies. Analyzes complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences. Develops advanced analytic models that discover, visualize and communicate data insights to action.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree and 5 years experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics including 1 year experience in data analysis and information reporting relating to healthcare data, including pharmacy OR 7 years experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics including 1 year experience in data analysis and information reporting relating to healthcare data, including pharmacy.
  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise
  • Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices
  • Takes initiative to solve complex problems; takes an "outside –in" perspective to identify innovative solutions
  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
  • May lead functional teams or projects

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, or Information Science, or Business Administration, or Statistics, or Engineering, or Mathematics
  • Experience in traditional data warehousing and/or "Big Data" environments and associated tools.
  • Negotiation, decision making, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Experience operating effectively with limited information and often times in ambiguous environment.
  • Business acumen to assimilate information quickly, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Experience taking a collaborative yet proactive approach and anticipating and minimizing roadblocks through understanding and partnership.
  • Experience in advising senior management and colleagues through data governance processes, acting as a liaison between the business and IT
  • Experience using BI Tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview
  • Experience in management consulting, health insurance, investment banking, and/or analytics functions in a large organization.
  • Experience working within a highly matrixed organization.

This position is based in Chicago, IL.
