Senior Data Science Product Manager
We're looking for a Senior Data Science Product Manager in our growing Enterprise Data Science area to engage senior leadership in our business areas to understand their most significant business challenges, design new data science products to automate or enable better decision making to address these challenges, and provide overall product leadership for one or more of our data science initiatives. They will have indirect leadership over data scientists assigned to these initiatives.
The Enterprise Data Science team is also a Center of Excellence for data science at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, New Mexico, Montana, Oklahoma & Texas. In addition to product management responsibilities, this person will spend approximately a quarter of their time designing and promoting best practices in data science product management across the enterprise, lead and organize training for the broader community, and promote a data-driven culture.

An ideal candidate is someone who has a demonstrated track record of leading or delivering analytical projects and products, loves working with data, an ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, enjoys creative problem-solving, has a strong customer and user-centric mindset, and a willingness to apply their technical skills as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
Serves as the business interface of the team to deliver predictive / prescriptive analytics, as well as descriptive reports / dashboards, as needed; accountable for the operationalization of data science solutions.
Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor degree and 5 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field OR Actuarial credential or Master degree and 4 years of work experience in an advanced mathematical, statistical , engineering, physics or related quantitative field OR Ph.D. and 2 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field OR 8 years of work experience in an advanced mathematical, statistical , engineering, physics or related quantitative field
Must demonstrate proficiency in at least four of the following six areas: 1) data analysis and relational-style query languages; 2) machine learning and/or statistical modeling; 3) data visualization; 4) a high-level programming language; 5) distributed computing; 6) understanding of healthcare.

A track record of independently delivering or leading the delivery of multiple complex analytics or data science projects
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Master degree in a quantitative field, or bachelors degree with significant healthcare experience
Proficiency in SQL and Hive
* Experience with Iterative / Agile / Scrum development
This position is based in Chicago, IL.
Relocation will not be provided for this position.
