Developer Specialist-DBA

Job Purpose: This position is responsible for designing, modeling, developing, and supporting Database Management Systems (DBMS) on development and test environments in advance of being released into production. Working in conjunction with application development teams, analyzes data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s), and then designs, develops, amends, optimizes, and certifies database schema design to meet system(s) requirements. Gathers, analyzes, and normalizes relevant information related to, and from business processes, functions, and operations to evaluate data credibility and determine relevance and meaning. Develops database and warehousing designs across multiple platforms and computing environments. Develops an overall data architecture that supports the information needs of the business in a flexible but secure environment. Acts as escalation path for technical DB issues in Dev and Test environments.

Responsibilities;

  • Responsible for designing, modeling, developing and supporting Database Management Systems (DBMS) on development and test environments.
  • Analyzes data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s), and then designs, develops, amends, optimizes, and certifies database schema design to meet system(s) requirements.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and normalizes relevant information related to, and from business processes, functions, and operations to evaluate data credibility and determine relevance and meaning.
  • Develops database and warehousing designs across multiple platforms and computing environments.
  • Develops an overall data architecture that supports the information needs of the business in a flexible but secure environment.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, customers, etc.
  • Works with less tenured DBAs and Developers to increase their knowledge and develop into more senior level positions;
  • Works with management to determine process enhancements, potential structural changes;
  • Member of an ADC Community of Practice of HealthTech Center of Excellence;
  • Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.
  • Works in close collaboration with application developers, systems analysts, scrum masters, and optimized waterfall leads in determining and prioritizing efforts accordingly.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of company business.
  • Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.
  • Matrix with Dev Ops team for DDL deployment for release.

Required Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree and 5 years Information Technology experience OR Technical Certification and/or College Courses and 7 year Information Technology experience OR 9 years Information Technology experience.
  • 5 years of IT work experience in DBA, DBMS design and support and relevant computing environments.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge and experience
  • Familiarity with multiple development methodologies including agile/scrum, optimized waterfall, and XP.
  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services
  • Independently solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions
  • Works independently, receives minimal guidance
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may direct the work of other staff members

Preferred Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
