Assistant General Counsel - Texas Plan

This Assistant General Counsel will serve as a member of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas plan counsel team, with primary focus on leading legal review of legislation and regulatory rule making. This position will support review of insurance product filings and will take the lead on insurance code and other state regulatory issues required. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and a creative, strategic thinker with excellent judgment and substantive experience in managed health care and insurance with the ability to support the business.

Law degree from accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the State of Texas (or eligible for admission as in-house counsel).
At least 10 years' experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm or in-house with insurance or healthcare experience
Demonstrated ability to function as a self-starter and value-add contributor in a fast-paced practice.
Demonstrated ability to deliver creative, business-focused solutions and/or alternatives to complex network matters.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to operating in a strong team environment, and working collaboratively on cross functional legal teams.
Highly developed risk assessment and decision making skills and abilities, including the ability to think strategically on legal and business issues to deliver quality and timely legal advice and services to mitigate risk and provide proactive business counsel.
Excellent time management and organizational skills, along with ability to manage shifting priorities and demands.
