HBO 2017 Summer Intern: Media Relations - Sports


The internship will expose the candidate to the high-energy, fast-paced world of sports media relations. Ideal for a young woman or man seeking to explore a career in sports media with an eye on public relations, writing, pitching and coordinating public relations activities for HBO Sports programming.

Must be able to work 35 hours/week in New York City.

Must be a rising junior or senior in college.


  • Answer media inquiries regarding upcoming HBO Sports programming.
  • Assist with special events and activities for HBO Sports programming announcements.
  • Help draft press releases and alerts.
  • Coordinate media outlets to pitch for upcoming HBO Sports programming including Boxing, Real Sports, documentaries and specials.
  • Track press clips for HBO Sports programs.


  • Strong interest in working in the sports media environment.
  • Watching ESPN and listening to sports talk radio is the culture.
  • Reading sports industry websites such as Bleacher Report,, Yahoo Sports,, USA TODAY sports,


  • Engaging personality wanting to work in media relations department.
