We are currently seeking a Career Services Specialist to be a part of the Career Services Team at HCZ. The ideal candidate will be experienced in developing and providing one-on-one skill building sessions and workshops. This candidate will know how to build relationships and provide access to opportunities, where students will learn about careers, develop marketable skills and affirm that they have the tools and resources that they need to be self-sustaining adults.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead all resume drive efforts for internships and fellowship opportunities
  • Lead the planning and implementation of a minimum of fifteen skill building workshops in FY19-20
  • Lead the planning of the Winter and Summer PD series for CHECS students
  • Provide event planning assistance to the Manager
  • Create, track, compile, analyze and send survey response data of skill-building workshops to the Assistant Director
  • Provide support with one-on-one student services as needed, but not limited to resume and/or cover letter creation, interview preparation, career coaching, career search strategy and career action plan creation, LinkedIn profile creation, understanding red flags as it pertains to wellness concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or related social services field preferred, Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • At least two-three years of experience in internship placement, student advising, and utilizing data-driven methods to increase student success in completion of internships
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the program including evening, and some weekends
  • Passion for and commitment to the mission of the Harlem Children’s Zone
