Sales Coordinator, Special Markets

The Special Markets Coordinator will support the Special Markets department with its essential work in selling books to non-traditional channels, such as specialty retailer shops, catalogs, subscription boxes, wholesalers, and more by providing customer service, administrative support and account research.  


  • Provide customer service for existing and new accounts, including resolving questions on inventory, pricing, title information, and tracking orders
  • Process orders on a daily basis using the Hachette systems
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations and sales materials for all sales team members
  • Create and run sales reports from database systems; analyze data and highlight sales and account trends
  • Update the Special Markets mailing list and database to ensure accuracy of information
  • Solicit new accounts by researching catalogers, direct marketers, premium, wholesalers, retail outlets, subscription boxes, and websites to obtain new business
  • Assist and support the Directors with ongoing tasks and sales-related special projects
  • Perform general administrative support including mailings, photocopying, answering phones, and expense reports


  • Prior experience in a fast-paced sales department preferred; strong customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills
  • Must be detail oriented and capable to perform multiple tasks on a daily basis
  • Proficient with MS Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and databases
  • Analytical skills and ability to work with numbers
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to take initiative and support a team in a busy work environment
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with accounts, clients, and upper management
