As Business Unit Manager Engineering & Projects covering the entire Belgium Region, you are primarily responsible for optimising and implementing continuous improvement ideas within the sites of the Business Unit. In addition, you will be responsible for setting up a LEAN culture within the Business Unit as well as leading a team of Engineers.
You are not alone in this position, you will receive help from your team which consists of Logistics Engineers, WMS engineers, Continuous Improvement engineers and Key Users and you will work closely with the Site Managers. In addition, you will work closely with the other BU MT members to achieve the intended result.
Your tasks and responsibilities as Business Unit Manager Engineering & Projects:
- Participate in the Business Unit MT and report on the progress of the projects at the various locations
- Taking charge of and acting as a point of contact for all improvement projects within the Business Unit
- You know how to convince the responsible Site Manager and get him on board with various initiatives that will contribute to the Continuous Improvement objectives at the location, taking into account the available budgets.
- Ensuring that the knowledge on the sites or among individuals is widely supported within the Business Unit
- Acting as the designer of various project plans and business cases in the context of Continuous Improvement
- Key figure between the day-to-day operations, management team and the customer
- Proactively thinking along with our Site & Operations Managers on the basis of analyses and your logistics expertise to optimize the logistics processes and make them run more efficiently (warehouse layout, WMS, 5s, flows, automation, etc.)
- Always expand your knowledge through internal and external training courses on engineering, automation, warehousing, supply chain and logistics trends and know how to involve your team in this
- You will be responsible for customer implementations and the introduction of adaptive tech into our processes
- The above results in optimal productivity, quality and customer satisfaction
What do you need to be successful
- Master's degree in an Economical, Scientific, Engineering, or IT Discipline or equivalent through experience within a Logistics environment
- WMS experience essential
- Analytical thinking skills
- You have experience in managing a team within a Logistics environment
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an engineer or project management consultant - Experience with LEAN/engineering is a must!
- Excellent communication skills - English is essential with either Dutch/French a distinct advantage
