Guggenheim Insurance Services is seeking a Developer. Reporting to the Head of Development, this person will join a small team, working with the latest technology and be given the opportunity to learn the business. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to enhance and improve the existing processes and develop new tools for the group. The candidate should be familiar with the latest big data technologies and should have experience in working with real-time data, measuring and reducing latency. The team uses Python and generally prefers open-source tools. Various market feeds, such as Bloomberg, Markit, and Reuters are used for data collection. The group uses Microsoft Azure and the Berkeley Labs Scientific Cluster and are currently building their own internal Hadoop cluster. There is growth potential for the right candidate, with opportunities for additional responsibilities depending on how quickly the systems are learned. The Developer position is located in New York.


  • Ability to code using Python and one other language such as C++/Java/C#
  • Add additional functionality and code changes based on specifications
  • Measure and reduce latency on applications
  • Handle any after-hours support if necessary


  • Mid-level experience: 3-6yrs
  • Python (Numpy, Pandas)
  • Hadoop / Celery
  • Messaging technologies such as ZeroMq or RabbitMQ
  • In-memory databases like Redis
  • Browsers: Chrome & IE
