PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and leading a highly competent team of product owners, technologists and/or Packaging team to successfully discharge the project, risk, change and knowledge management responsibilities of the Technical department
  • Ensure day to day technical issues are resolved urgently to minimize reject/waste levels
  • Responsible for providing technical leadership into complex launched product performance investigations
  • Responsible for the technical aspects of product quality and knowledge transfer
  • Provide efficient, effective and compliant technical support to the Product Stream manufacturing processes and activities in alignment with technical groups based within the Product Stream, and coordinate technical activities
  • Direct a team of technologists and/or pack specialists in the preparation and execution of NPI trials and planned changes (packaging components, raw materials or APIs) to agreed timescales
  • Actively facilitate the improvement of product and process capability and batch yields across the supply chain.
    • Specifically, be accountable for Cost of Goods (CoGs) and Cost of Waste (CoW) improvements
  • Responsible for acquiring and maintaining product knowledge expertise, and knowledge management of products throughout lifecycle
  • Promote and monitor technical standards throughout the product stream and ensure they are adhered to
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate systems to track, trend and analyze product performance are in place
  • Responsible for applying product performance targets to products post launch
  • Responsible for the technical aspects of new product introduction to hand over to production
  • Responsible for approving and resourcing technical aspects of planned changes for launched products through effective risk management processes
  • Support the introduction of highly capable new process technologies and improvement of process capability of existing unit processes


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc in Scientific or Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing/Filling/Packaging experience in the Pharmaceutical/FMCG or other regulated industry
  • Proven capability to lead teams, both line and matrix, in a Technical role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of external regulatory requirements (MHRA, FDA), and internal/external quality requirements
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of product dose forms and their manufacturing processes
  • Project management skills and experience on major technical projects
  • Ability to use and interpret data to drive decision making at both tactical and strategic level
  • Time management skills, ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Resource management
  • Detailed knowledge of operational excellence tools e.g. FMEA, MSA etc
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, analytical skills, including technical report writing
  • Knowledge of process validation requirements
  • Experience of process validation, scale-up and technical transfer
  • Good knowledge of internal and external quality and EHS requirements


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of product development in addition to scale up and technology transfer
  • Experience in a CMO environment
