The Global Manufacturing & Technology (GMT) Automation Team is responsible for automation, manufacturing technology delivery and lifecycle support across GSK's clinical supply chain network. This includes the implementation of new technologies and automation to support novel product delivery mechanisms (including continuous direct compression, dose on demand (DoD) and just in time supply (JIT)).

As the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Engineer you be joining an existing team of DCS, SCADA and MES professionals to lead the development, launch and support of new equipment and control technologies across the clinical supply chain. Your principle focus will be on MES expansion, development and automation upgrades and support of GSK's data acquisition platforms. The role may also include support for external collaborations such as the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC).

The role will also include the provision of data analytics and insights using system and other tools from the various MES (and Automation) platforms to support the business in getting the most from its data. This element of the role will include the integration of data streams across multiple platforms into a single repository or data lake and the provision of data to central business data analytics teams (for consumption).

PLEASE NOTE: As the role is largely focused on MES delivery we are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who have MES design & deployment experience. Other backgrounds (including Automation, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Robotics, Electronics and Communications) will also be considered.

In addition to MES experience, you will also have strong people and communication skills, as well as proven ability to drive performance. You will have a strong continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to work towards standardised and lean working practices. With a wide range of state-of-the-art bespoke equipment and systems on site and globally, you will be challenged on a regular basis to not only maintain the status quo but to also continuously improve systems and processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree or HNC in Computer Science, Applied Physics, Automation, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Robotics, Electronics and Communications or similar disciplines / backgrounds.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience (MES / SCADA / Automation / Data analytics).
