  • A minimum of five Scottish credit/general standard grades / National 4/5 or equivalent or above which must include Maths, English and Science

Achieve your career goals on our apprentice programme On our 3-year programme you'll receive tailored on-the-job training from industry experts from day one combined with early responsibility to help you to develop and progress.

You'll be working towards HNC (or HND dependent on prior qualifications) in Applied Science and SVQ Level 3 in Laboratory & Associated Technical Activities through a blended approach of day study and block release.

If you are offered a role; you will have a buddy or a mentor who will help you to prepare for joining GSK and will be there to offer support and guidance throughout your apprenticeship.

Working with both your line and programme manager we want to identify the right opportunities to help you succeed in the short term and throughout your career with us.

Apprenticeship course Your apprenticeship is a blend of learning on the job and working towards your apprenticeship with a partner course provider, you will study at Kent University for this apprenticeship (please note: the provider may be subject to change).

What will you do? You will be part of our labs team based at our manufacturing site in Irvine.

Your duties might include:
  • Sample, test, report and validate final products, intermediates, raw materials and in-process samples to defined procedures
  • Consistently operate to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratories Practices (GLP) standards to ensure compliant product testing
  • Maintain and calibrate a wide range of analytical equipment to ensure continual production of accurate and precise results
  • Utilise theoretical and practical knowledge to aid interpretation of results and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrate proficiency in routine laboratory information systems to interpret and report results
  • Work in a compliant manner to ensure the safety of yourself, others and the protection of the environment
