The Platform Engineering team is responsible for designing & implementing the cloud platform and software frameworks & libraries that Grubhub software engineers use to build the applications that run the business.  We build scalable and performant systems and tools that form the building blocks of the Grubhub technology stack.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes and/or Docker in a production environment
  • Fluency developing software in one or more of the following languages:  Python, Java, Go
  • Experience with distributed, scalable microservice-based architectures
  • Working knowledge of AWS architecture and services (Compute/Containers, Storage, Networking, etc.)
  • Familiarity with distributed service registries (Eureka, Consul, Etcd)
  • Experience with relational & non-relational databases
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux (understand how things work under the hood)
  • Solid grasp of performance monitoring methodologies and tools
  • Understanding of CI/CD principles & practices
  • You will work with your team to monitor and ensure the health of the platform, which includes a 24/7 on-call rotation, to ensure a great customer experience.

  • Working knowledge of JVM performance tuning
  • Experience with service mesh implementations (Envoy, Linkerd)
  • Hands-on experience with partitioned databases (Cassandra, DynamoDB)
  • Familiarity with open-source infrastructure-as-code tools
