TITLE: Human Resources Generalist

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources Department

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Human Resources

Position Summary: Provide general administration and communication of benefits, payroll, leave administration, legal compliance, and other human resources functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Benefits Administration
    • Maintain benefit plans and assist in benefit plan compliance as directed by Vice President, Human Resources.
    • Provide timely assistance to team members regarding benefits, serving as main contact for benefit questions.
    • Coordinate employee benefit eligibility, enrollments, and terminations.
    • Communicate with Human Resources Coordinator regarding benefit plan changes affecting monthly invoices.
    • Oversee COBRA administration.
    • Prepare benefit/401(k) packets and other employee-related benefit information.
    • Hold individual benefit meetings for all new employees and those with Qualifying Life Events.
    • Hold individual 401(k) enrollment meetings for newly eligible employees; assist in 401(k) plan administration and employee education. Ensure beneficiaries are on file for all participating employees and assist employees in managing their 401(k) accounts.
    • Review and approve 401(k) loan and hardship requests; manage the administration of 401(k) loans in payroll.
    • Assist Vice President, Human Resources in coordinating, managing, and completing annual open enrollment process. Work with Human Resources Coordinator to hold individual benefit meetings with each employee.
    • Assist in maintaining ACA actions in Payroll for ACA compliance and tracking. Assist in auditing and approving 1095-C Forms.
    • Input and maintain benefit earnings and deductions and 401(k) deferrals in payroll system. Work closely with Payroll Department and Human Resources Coordinator to review bi-weekly payroll regarding various HR matters as they relate to payroll.
    • Produce and coordinate 401(k), FSA, and HSA payroll processes bi-weekly with vendors and Accounting Department, ensuring accuracy.
    • Manage company wellness program initiatives - implement and communicate with employees and Payroll Department.
  • Claims and Leave Administration

  • Oversee and administer leave of absence requests, including FMLA and Non-FMLA requests, Parental Leave, and Short and Long-Term Disability claims, and resulting effects on benefits, payroll, etc.
  • Notify payroll of leave, coordinate with employee and benefit providers. Calculate, enter, and manage catch-up earnings and deductions in payroll, if applicable.
  • Oversee and administer worker's compensation claims with worker's compensation provider and employees involved.
  • General Human Resources Duties
    • Ensure company time off policies are properly administered in payroll.
    • Serve as back-up for New Hire Onboarding process and meeting with employee.
    • Serve as a secondary point of contact in providing written and verbal employment verifications.
    • Assist in coordinating company events, such as quarterly conference calls, new employee orientations, employee lunches, annual award lunch, webinars, etc.
    • Create and maintain Human Resources Policy and Procedures Manual.
    • Keep current on all Human Resources compliance requirements, new laws, etc.; communicate with Vice President, Human Resources, and keep all Human Resources processes, procedures, and communications up to date.
    • Maintain Human Resources content on Company Intranet.
    • Build and maintain custom reports in payroll system.
  • Assist with additional projects and other duties, as assigned.

  • Knowledge/Critical Skills:

    • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
    • One or more of the following professional HR Certification(s) preferred: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
    • 2 - 4 years in Human Resources Administration.
    • Human Resources experience in Real Estate preferred.
    • Very high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams required.
    • Experience with benefits and payroll; Paylocity experience preferred.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong math skills, are required.
    • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and organizational skills are required.
