Managing Editor

The Managing Editor is responsible for uploading and editing the content to GrandLife Hotels. The Managing Editor is responsible for the execution of the Editorial Calendar and Social Media strategy, and writing GrandLife articles that are not assigned to contributors. The Managing Editor will identify and create content opportunities internally and externally, elevating content standards to ensure brand direction is achieved as well as utilize established freelancers to enhance stories while maintaining a clear brand voice from the site through to the social media promotion of content.

Reports to: General Manager of Soho Grand Hotel

•Developing social strategy for overall GrandLife accounts
•Oversee execution of social strategy by designated team members running social accounts
•Prepare monthly social media health reports
•Managing Editorial calendar - 2 months out
•Managing Local Q&A’s
•Managing GrandLife Neighborhood guide
•Managing the Events Calendar - editing posts and ensuring content is on brand and GLH initiatives included
•Managing playlists – relevant to season/site content; gathering, sourcing approval and uploading playlists
•Developing weekly meeting agendas that include new story pitches, and new suggestions for Neighborhood Guide & Locals
•Developing weekly and monthly editorial reporting showcasing post readership & engagement statistics across blog and social
•Uploading of content via Wordpress ensuring SEO optimization on all posts
•Managing freelance writer relationships
•Editing copy
•Presenting new content concepts for GLH (story angles, story mediums, social integration)
•Participate in GrandLife events in order to develop hotel-focused features for both property blogs

Education: College degree preferred

Experience: 1-2 years editorial experience

Personal Qualities: Be personable, well spoken, organized, diplomatic, and sincere. Refined style with an interest in Music, Fashion, Art, Dining & Nightlife especially pertaining to Downtown New York. Must be willing to take ownership of GrandLife Hotels site and execute to a high standard.

Skills: Advanced computer skills in word processing, spread sheet, SailThru, Fashion GPS, Wordpress, Creative Suite: InDesign and Photoshop. Excellent communication, management and organization skills. Ability to write well and handle multiple tasks. Self-motivating and self-starting.

•Excellent writing skills, experience creating content to drive traffic
•An intuitive sense of how to define & hone brand voice through interactions with audiences
•Creative thinker with quantitative skills
•Experience in travel, hospitality and NYC culture preferred
•Photoshop, photography, and visual design skills
