Tax Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Tax Manager is, along with the Senior Tax Manager, responsible for ensuring the firm is filing all required tax returns and related payments accurately and on-time. This individual will also help to develop strategies to minimize taxes and ensure domestic and international tax compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce the monthly, quarterly and year-end tax calculation and filings
  • Accountable for tax compliance and financial reporting for the company's global operations
  • Responsible for foreign income and indirect tax compliance
  • Knowledgeable on transfer pricing, and base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS)
  • Meet U.S. and international tax compliance deadlines to ensure accurate and timely completion, including all appropriate forms and tax return disclosures
  • Experience with estimated taxes, 1446 withholding, and manage state composite taxes
  • Interface with external tax advisors when necessary
  • Review and respond to information requests from tax authorities, manage audits, and proactively identify adjustments to be proposed
  • Respond to partner's personal income tax related questions, where necessary liaising with their personal tax advisors
  • Conduct research for complex tax issues, document conclusions in memos and present findings to management
  • Keep abreast of current tax laws, regulations and practices. Identify changes that impact the business and communicate them to management
  • Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting and tax compliance activities with regard to tax planning
  • Identify and implement timely, cost-effective tax planning strategies designed to create value and enhance the partners and the firm's worldwide tax position
  • Work with Goodwin's Sr. Accountant/Partnership Analyst on cash flow planning; calculate appropriate tax deductions for partners
  • Assist with preparing the firms tax budget and forecasting during the year

  • Excellent skills in judgment and ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential information

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent. Advanced degree (MST/MSA) or CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional corporate or partnership income tax experience
  • Large firm public accounting experience is desirable
  • Has a comprehensive knowledge of global tax matters

International taxation experience with London, Paris, Germany and Hong Kong preferable

  • Familiarity with Transfer pricing implementation, maintenance, and recordkeeping
  • Legal industry experience a plus, but not required
  • Partnership taxation experience strongly preferred
