Job Summary & Responsibilities


Prime Services Intraday Risk technology team provides a low latency solution to measure and manage real-time clearing and trading risks across multiple-asset portfolios by detecting and alerting outsized trades, anomalous trading activity and time-series analytics based breaches, thus giving our risk managers and clients the ability to take corrective action within minutes of trade execution. This is enabled by evaluating client portfolios with millions of trades and live market prices within seconds of trade execution.

Risk Management and Financing provides financing solutions and risk models that allow our diverse client base to execute a wide range of investment strategies within a framework that is predictable and reliable across all market conditions. .Our clients include, but are not limited to traditional Prime Brokerage hedge funds, market makers, broker dealers, institutional funds and high-frequency trading/quant funds.

Prime Services Risk Technology provides products and services that broadly cover margin lending risk, clearing risk and trading risk for Prime Services clients in the PB, Futures, GSEC, and DCS businesses. We implement complex house and regulatory margin calculators, provide real time monitoring for client trading activity and build a suite of tools, reports, and risk analytics for internal Risk Managers and Margin Ops in addition to providing interactive web tools for external clients.


The Prime Services Risk Technology provides realtime visibility into client trading activity, thus allowing our Risk Managers to see how current market conditions and client trading are affecting their portfolios and effectively manage risk. The team also creates and enhances a suite of applications used to calculate Risk and Margin, and provide transparency back to clients on how we derive those requirements. Finally we provide significant API and tooling to do pre-canned and adhoc analytics for Risk to help them review client and business impact of actual or theoretical market events or new business. We are aligned closely with the Firm's DataLake strategy and continue to invest in this direction. This gives team members the opportunity to learn about the wide variety of asset classes our clients trade, as well as working directly with Risk Managers and Strats/Quant in a technology-intensive group.

Client demands and high trading volumes put a constant pressure on us to look at new technology products available in the market place or in the firm. As a result, the Risk team is constantly expanding its platform to offer clients more products, creating opportunities for people in the group to gain exposure to the latest technologies while gaining a strong understanding of what drives our business.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment to innovate and develop scalable, reliable, high performance and low latency technical solutions
  • Full stack front office development from user engagement, business requirements gathering & user stories, design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Interface with the firm's federation and revenue producing areas, including Securities Division, real-time execution platforms, Margin, Market Data and Clearing systems
  • Work closely with the global team and mentor junior engineers


Basic Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills
  • 2+ years of Core Java &/or C/C+ development experience (solid understanding OO programming concepts). 2+ years RDBMS experience (Sybase or UDB preferred - able to write and analyze complex queries with multi-table joins and aggregate functions)
  • 2+ years test driven development
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Demonstrate ability to work with multiple technologies on the same project
  • 2+ experience working with business/front office/customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Unix environment working experience
  • Scripting (Python/Shell)
  • RESTful web services / API centric designs
  • JavaScript, front-end frameworks, and preprocessors (React, Redux, Angular, Bootstrap, Webpack)
  • Big data technology stack
  • Financial market knowledge
