Analyze cash or liquid assets required in regular and stressed scenarios, through sophisticated data modeling across the firm. Our system platform provides a competitive advantage in allowing Corporate Treasury to meet evolving regulatory reporting requirements, efficiently monitor and analyze liquidity risks, maximize firm funding strategy, as well as for Global Liquidity Product (GLP) trading desk to execute external facing liquidity management strategies.

The Securities Division's Global Liquidity Products (GLP) Trading Desk is the execution arm of the firm's liquidity risk management function. The desk is responsible for exploring new and innovative ways to fund the firm's activities, execute them externally on the street and then disseminate the funding internally to the revenue producing divisions. In reaction to the financial crisis of 2008, there has been a strong focus on liquidity risk management, strengthening and diversifying the way that the firm funds itself so we have enjoyed a prolonged period of product innovation in the area.

Finance & Risk Engineering's GLP Technology team builds, supports and maintains a suite of systems, crucial to facilitating the firm's funding capabilities. Our team develops and owns a variety of tradables that support financial instruments such as repo and securities lending, certificates of deposit issuance, contractual deposits and internal funding products. GLP's trades are low volume, high value covering a broad spectrum of asset classes and systems to conduct its funding and associated hedging activities. We are a focused team that works directly with the desk (GLP trading and structuring), Corporate Treasury, Liquidity Operations and Funding Controllers - exploring new product lines & funding capabilities, while improving existing processes and systems through enterprise platform adoption. GLP Technology sits within the Liquidity Risk Technology organisation in the Finance Engineering business unit of Technology. We have a presence in London & NY, supporting desks in Asia, London and New York.

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Forge strong relationships with our key clients
  • GLP trading and structuring - as well as Corporate Treasury, Liquidity Operations, Funding Controllers and other technology teams to develop and enhance our trading systems and processes
  • The role involves deriving requirements, design, development, testing and support for the range of stakeholders involved in facilitating new funding product execution & process efficiency
  • We work directly with the business rather than through project managers
  • You will be part of a large community of like-minded technologists in a very flat organization with a culture that promotes collaboration and teamwork

Basic Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
  • You will need to be excited by both technology and the products that the business trade
  • Excellent communication skills (written & oral)
  • A willingness to learn new technologies including the firm's proprietary risk management system and programming language SecDB and Slang
  • Professional program language experience such as Java, C++, scripting languages, and web technologies
  • Technical skills to include Linux, relational database technologies (Sybase, DB2), experience of automated builds, testing & deployment
  • Track record of excellent client service and project delivery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally at least 2 years of banking or finance IT industry experience
