Securities, Equity Structuring & Sales Strats – Equity Synthetic Marketing, Analyst/Associate
As an equity synthetics marketer, you will play an integral role in driving one of the Securities Division’s top focus businesses. You will be interacting with internal and external clients, engaging in product education, solution-oriented selling, new initiatives and product development, and navigating the firm globally to increase market share and optimize the firm’s capital footprint. You will have regular dialogue with clients and internal teams on the latest industry and regulatory changes, and help shape the firm’s implementation of the changing market environment.

SPG Marketing & the Equity Structuring & Sales Strats Team
The SPG (Synthetic Products Group) Marketing team is responsible for growth and development of GS’s one delta equity derivatives business, primarily focused on equity synthetics, in partnership with our sales & trading teams. Synthetic products provide a range of benefits to clients and the firm including capital efficiency, optimized risk management and access to global markets.
The SPG business encompasses a global Sales, Trading, and Marketing team based in New York, London, and Hong Kong. Our SPG marketing team sits within the Equity Sales Strat team, and works closely across a broader “virtual” swaps product specialty group spanning across Sales Strats, Sales, GSET, Execution Trading and GSS globally funneling up to a central leadership team. We work with a variety of clients, including hedge funds, mutual funds, insurance companies and pension funds that use equity synthetic strategies to achieve their investment objectives. Leveraging our strong relationships across the firm, product expertise and client experience, we are responsible for understanding our clients’ organizations and needs to deliver the equity synthetic platform via customized and innovative solutions across the global markets.
The broader Equity Structuring & Sales Strats team includes experts across products, structuring, technology, and data analytics to help facilitate equity-based transactions and identify market opportunities. The Equity Structuring & Sales Strats team performs quantitative and other analysis, working with tools, models and financial markets data and collaborates with Sales, Trading, Technology and other areas of the firm, and with clients.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
As an equity synthetics marketer, you will become a product expert with deep understanding of the mechanics of synthetics as well as motivations of trading in swap in markets around the globe, acting as a primary resource for internal and external clients, and navigating the business globally to deliver creative solutions.
You will work with experts across sales, trading, operations and other areas of the firm to discover and execute opportunities to meet the needs of our clients and deliver commercial outcomes for the firm – for example, facilitating custom hedging solutions, seeing a difficult negotiation to the finish line, or helping a client use MARQUEE to deliver the firm to the client’s desktop. In the increasingly dynamic market environment, it is critical to stay well-informed of market and product updates to keep clients abreast of all industry trends and regulatory developments.
The day-to-day desk experience requires real-time fast-paced decision making and market interactions, as well as balancing medium-to-longer term projects and solutions. You will work with internal and external clients through meetings, phone calls, follow-up work and ongoing dialogues. Through these interactions, you will develop lasting client relationships to ensure seamless delivery of the product and increase GS market share.
You will also gain broad exposure to other equity products working with the larger Equity Structuring & Sales Strat team, giving you the opportunity to learn across products and identify cross-selling opportunities for the firm.
