The Equities Execution Algo strats are part of GSET (Goldman Sachs Electronic Trading) within the Securities Division of Goldman Sachs. Throughout the Securities Division, strats are using quantitative and technological techniques to solve complex business problems. Our goal is to serve our large client base, which includes corporations, financial service providers, and fund managers.

The Execution Algo team is responsible for developing highly specialized equity and equity option execution and routing strategies for markets in the US, Canada and South America. Their work includes design, development, research, testing, support, and monitoring trading performance for strategies running on low latency automated trading platforms. The team has a strong focus on providing a best in class algorithmic trading offering to Goldman Sachs' electronic trading clients, and also provides algorithms to traders internal to GS. With an objective of improving execution quality in a quickly evolving marketplace, there is a rapid pace of software development and deployment. The team consists of self-guided pragmatic individuals who are motivated to change the status quo in calculated ways.

As a member of the team, you will play an integral role on the trading floor. You will be involved in designing and developing complex execution and routing algorithms, parallel computing architectures, and electronic trading tools. This is a dynamic, entrepreneurial team with a passion for technology and the markets, with individuals who thrive in fast-paced, changing environments and are energized by a bustling trading floor. The team takes a data driven approach to decision making, using both data from our algorithms interacting with the market as well as publicly available market data.

You will have the opportunity to understand equities market microstructure, exchange service offerings, regulations, and implement changes according to these things on an on-going basis. You will also communicate with traders, sales teams, clients and compliance officers about new feature requests, explanation of existing features etc.




  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Thorough knowledge of Java, C++, or an equivalent programming language, and object oriented software engineering concepts
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team


  • Demonstrated ability for performance measurement and optimization across software, hardware and network components
  • Low latency or real time software development
  • Data driven analysis and statistical modelling of problems
  • SQL, Python, R, agile SDLC practices
