Operations Specialist - OPS7517AD


Duties: Operations Specialist with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, UT. Function on a team providing operational risk management and oversight for the Firm's trading and sales businesses, while ensuring the integrity of the Firm's books and records through the development of workflows, systems and controls, from trade booking to settlement. Responsibilities include: Assist in day-to-day settlement activities in DTC market, including Equity, Commercial Paper, Syndicates, and Fixed Income transactions, related to processing of the Firm's and the Firm's clients' transactions while ensuring risk, control, and service level requirements are maintained. Create management reporting and facilitate transparency; provide metrics and analysis to report fails trends in addition to documenting process flows and creating procedure manuals for the functions performed. Build on commercial effectiveness between firm desks and settlements while maintaining control/risk based judgment. Facilitate ledger integrity and satisfy regulatory requirements for 15c3-3 via timely break investigation and resolution. Interact daily with external depositories, custodian banks, and transfer agents; communicate internally with operations and revenue businesses. Understand process flows and market requirements to help direct global convergence strategies; provide depth of knowledge and training to new joiners. Assist with internal and cross-divisional project initiatives designed to improve and streamline existing processes.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)


Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance or a related field. 2.5 years of experience in the job offered or in a related financial position. Prior work experience must include: Accounting skills to perform in depth reconciliation processes to balance multiple books and records to mitigate exposure risks; Trade settlement experience and product knowledge in equity and fixed income to evaluate trade booking and settlement risks, investigate, and assess trade settlement discrepancies, and ultimately resolve daily market risk with external brokers; Understanding of the securities industry; experience with custody and clearing functions; Experience with application/software enhancement processes, including producing test scripts, coordinating testing activities, and analyzing post production implementation; Experience with global market products and new products rollout, including settlements flows for different products types and clearings, collateral allocation for derivatives products, and cash activity booking; Utilizing knowledge of attributes of financial product types such as Bonds, Equities, and CPs; Using standard Microsoft tools including Excel, Word and PowerPoint to track volumes, workflow, and projects including utilizing Pivot tables to manage large datasets, V-looks ups, and basic macros to minimize manual processes and efficiently manage risk; Identifying risks inherent in daily business process and drive initiatives to design controls to mitigate risk while seeking efficient Straight-Through-Processing (STP) workflows; Working with financial regulations and their impact to financial reference data; Utilizing industry knowledge and client service skills to effectively manage unique client requests and communicate regulatory and operational requirements and procedures; Experience with oversight and management of exceptions and understanding of reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and address breaks and discrepancies; Liaising with technology and multiple financial operations groups to enhance processes and procedures and implement regulatory changes.
