The Investment Banking Division in Tokyo is looking for a Financial Institution Group Banker at the Associate/VP level join the team.

The Investment Banking Division (IBD) provides broad-based, global service with expertise in mergers and acquisitions, privatizations and equity/debt offerings, leveraged finance, structured product solutions, risk management transactions. Bankers in IBD help to assist our clients in achieving their most important strategic and financial objectives. Our Bankers play an important role in developing and strengthening our client relationships, participating on our advisory teams and in structuring and executing a full range of financial transactions. On a daily basis, Bankers interact with client executives, working with other bankers to help guide clients in their financial decisions.

Team Description

Our Financial Institutions group provides financing and advisory services to institutions worldwide, including banks, insurance companies, asset management firms, financial technology companies and specialty finance institutions.

With nearly 300 employees across the globe-and an expanding footprint in markets such as Americas, Japan, Latin America, Central Europe and China-our specialists offer a wide suite of products, including M&A advisory, equity and debt financing, structured finance and risk management/hedging.


Our junior investment bankers at Goldman Sachs gain exposure to the firm's businesses and expanded knowledge of the investment banking industry, as they develop key analytical, communications, marketing and sales skills. The junior bankers create and analyze financial models, performing scenario analyses and tests to examine the effects of client alternatives. In addition, junior bankers organize and prepare presentations, which explain industry trends, discuss client options, and recommend strategies to meet client goals. They may also participate in and conduct due diligence sessions, a necessary component of financial transactions. From maintaining client communication to helping Goldman Sachs structure client transactions, our bankersare a vital part of Goldman Sachs' banking teams.



3 or more years of experience in corporate finance or capital markets with coverage experience in financial institutions ( such as banks, secruities, insurance related clients)

Drive, enthusiasm, creativity and excellent interpersonal skills

Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities

Robust financial and analytical skill set

Strong quantitative and technical abilities

Strong multi-tasking and time management skills

Native/business level fluency in written and spoken Japanese and English
