RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Natural Resources investment banking group is looking for an Associate to join in Houston.
The Natural Resources Group has a significant global presence with offices in New York, Houston, Toronto, Calgary, London, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires, among others. Along with Metal & Mining and Chemicals, the group also covers Energy and Power, including Alternative and Renewable Energy.
The Investment Banking Division (IBD) provides broad-based, global service with expertise in mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, and equity, debt and high-yield financings. Associates in IBD help to assist our clients in achieving their most important strategic and financial objectives.
Our associates play an important role in developing and strengthening our client relationships, participating on our advisory teams and in structuring and executing a full range of financial transactions. In this capacity, they work closely with managing directors, vice presidents, analysts and other associates in the firm.
The associate at Goldman Sachs gain exposure to the firm's businesses and expanded knowledge of the investment banking industry, as they develop key analytical, communications, marketing and sales skills. Associates develops financial models, performs customized company valuation analyses, and is actively involved in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions and fixed income and equity issuances in the New York region. In addition, associates organize and prepare presentations, which explain industry trends, assess clients' situations to provide the necessary financial advice, and recommend strategies to meet client goals. Additionally, associates coordinate teams of tax advisors, attorneys, and bankers for various transactions; lead due diligence processes and actively participate in the negotiations of legal documentation. From maintaining client communication to helping Goldman Sachs structure client transactions, our associates are a vital part of Goldman Sachs' banking teams.
- EITHER: Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 3.5 years' investment banking experience
- OR: MBA with up to 2 years' post-MBA investment banking experience
- Current investment banking experience, including knowledge of debt & equity financing and M&A; expertise in related modeling and valuation techniques is required
- Candidates who have investment banking experience in other industry sectors but have a demonstrated interest in Natural Resources will be considered
- History of outstanding academic and professional achievement
- Strong team orientation and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members in multiple groups and regions
