Goldman Sachs develops global client-focused research in economics, portfolio strategy, derivatives and equity and credit securities. Our clients use these insights and investment ideas to develop their strategies.

Global Investment Research produces original, fundamental research and analysis of industries, companies and economies. Our research teams continually identify and analyze financial information, strategic issues and trends that affect companies, industries and markets on a regional and global scale.

Goldman Sachs is seeking a Business Analyst / Associate to join the Options research team in New York, NY to focus on equity index derivatives.

The goal of the Business Analyst / Associate is to work closely with Goldman Sachs lead analysts and our Portfolio Strategy and Economics teams in order to:

  • Generate trade ideas/written research: Collaborate with research analysts to write fundamentally driven options investment ideas using quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Create option studies: Generate and analyze the historical performance of VIX strategies, short volatility strategies (call overwriting, put selling), and the efficacy of various portfolio hedges.
  • Communicate with the derivatives/equities sales force, derivatives/equity traders and a wide range of clients

Basic Qualifications• 2+ years related experience at a financial services firm in sales/trading, research, investment banking or capital markets

  • Solid quantitative skills with experience in macroeconomics, statistics and programming
  • Experience analyzing, creating and marketing investment ideas
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work with teams
  • Passion for analyzing markets
  • Comfortable taking initiative and demonstrating resourcefulness
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
