Controllers ensure that the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated and public financial institution. In the Controllers Department, our professionals measure the profitability of, and risks associated with, every aspect of the firm's business. Controllers also ensure that the firm's activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets.

Funding Product Control is seeking an individual to support the Global Securities Services business. GSS is a lead service provider to the hedge fund and market maker industries offering capital introduction, margin financing, securities lending, trade execution, clearing services, and derivatives prime brokerage services. The Analyst/Associate will be responsible for preparing daily deliverables, maintaining the control infrastructure, participating in on-going projects and responding to various ad-hoc questions and analysis as they pertain to GSS and funding of Goldman Sachs. The position will offer many benefits, including but not limited to:

  • Interaction with various Global Securities Services desks and support groups
  • Extensive dealings with many departments within the Controllers division
  • Exposure to equity, futures, and derivative products

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Produce and analyze daily P&L, Balance Sheet, and ad hoc analytics in support of the various Global Securities Services desks
  • Liaise with various business desk heads and other front office personnel
  • Identify, investigate and rectify trading account breaks using Product Control proprietary systems
  • Maintain control of the firm's books and records including monthly booking of balance sheet and P&L
  • Contribute to 10Q/10K disclosure and footnote reporting for products supported
  • Interface with other support areas such as Product Controllers, Legal Entity Controllers, Regulatory Controllers, Divisional Management Reporting, Funding & Product Control Technology, and Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience (Analyst), or at least 3 years of relevant work experience (Associate)
  • Degree in Accounting and/or Finance preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team. Needs to be a self-starter and take initiative
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • High degree of literacy in Microsoft applications (especially Excel) and other various software applications
