Duties: Associate-Intermediate/VP with Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York, NY. Develop and maintain software to analyze the risk characteristics and changes in risk characteristics of investment portfolios primarily consisting of investments in securities issued by companies, and derivatives thereof (“fundamental portfolios”). Develop and code algorithms that measure the performance of individual positions or groups of positions in fundamental portfolios, enabling the comparison of the profitability of positions for the purpose of improving the investment process. Maintain a software application that shows some of risk characteristics and changes thereof, and some of the performance measures intraday, in real-time. Develop and code reports that compare positions in the group’s fundamental portfolios with issuers not currently held, but included in industry benchmarks, for the purpose of improving the selection of issuers whose fundamental outlook would be attractive for investment purposes.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Job Requirements: Master’s degree (U.S. or equivalent) in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field. Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related quantitative position. Prior work experience must include: experience in the application of asset and derivatives pricing theory, especially with respect to bonds, loans, interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, equity and equity options; utilizing knowledge of algorithms, statistics and probability theory to aid in the time series analysis of performance data; programming skills in a programming language used for fast prototying of risk management applications (Python or equivalent); ability to implement new computer programs, utilizing programming languages used for rapid prototyping (Python or equivalent) as well as structured programming languages (Java or equivalent); knowledge of relational database technology and SQL, to build optimal queries against position time series databases containing 10,000,000 rows or more; and ability to articulate complex financial and mathematical concepts to traders, portfolio managers and senior management.
