Duties: Associate-Intermediate/VP with Goldman, Sachs & Co in New York, NY. Report weekly, monthly and quarterly performance metrics to leadership of both the Investment Banking Division (IBD) and the Financial Institutions group. Metrics include revenues, profitability, ROE, backlog levels, market share/league table standings and headcount. Drive business planning and forecasting of IBD revenues and profitability. Assess client footprint to ensure the right clients are targeted based on analysis of fees paid to the street by each client and Goldman Sachs (GS) relative market share. Analyze loan portfolio, capital usage and revenue returns for GS, and performance relative to other competitors. Analyze division’s expense base; design expense allocation methodology from all departments in Investment Banking and all other Divisions, to each global Industry group. Assist in CCAR modelling of revenues and balance sheet. Ensure IBD’s management information systems tie to Firmwide reporting systems. Design ad-hoc reports, such as resource allocation and relative profitability, identify areas of opportunity for profitability or under performance within the business, project effects of changes in league tables and combine multiple different data-sets to analyze overall banker performance.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field. Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or in a related financial modeling role. Prior work experience must include: Understanding of financial markets with respect to investment banking key trends, competitors, products and regulations; Knowledge of the life-cycle of investment banking deals, including: timelines, resourcing requirements, expected fee spreads, expense impacts and billing procedures; Interacting directly with investment bankers, discussing pipeline of deals including current status, expected deal progression, as well as appropriate fee levels and expected hurdles; Dealing with headcount and payroll related data; performing sensitivity analysis by modeling P&L impact of headcount changes, analyzing costs being allocated to the industry and/or region, and monitoring monthly changes; Quantitative and analytical model development using advanced mathematical, numerical and statistics techniques; Redesigning workflows and models, as well as driving efficiencies through use of macros, and programming in VBA; Experience in technology implementation projects, related to an investment banking deal’s life cycle and expense process reengineering; Regulatory reporting, modeling and analysis in a complex environment such as large bank holding company including experience related to CCAR filings; Experience dealing with league table data, marketshare, competitor analysis, lost business, and fees paid to the street utilizing Dealogic; Understanding of regulatory capital charges driven by Risk Weighted Assets of investment banking products; understanding of the impact of both balance sheet driven positions and unfunded commitments; Project and people management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced team, while developing junior staff and juggling multiple competing priorities; Utilizing knowledge and work experience in product related roles, industry group financial management and management financial analysis; Using knowledge of databases and systems including Business Objects, Hyperion Essbase and Dealogic; Liaising with senior management and developing strategic presentations and analysis; Experience working in a global organization, with cross regional projects and reporting; Proficiency in using various Windows desktop applications, such as word, powerpoint and particularly Excel; including formula/analytical tools such as pivot tables, vlookup, filtering, charts.
