Associate-Intermediate/Vice President - TECH1317COPWM
Duties: Associate-Intermediate/Vice President with Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York, NY. Vice President in the Project Delivery Office (PDO), responsible for tracking the largest, most complex projects being performed within Private Wealth Management (PWM) Technology; working as a Business Analyst/Project Manager on these projects; and prioritizing new initiatives being requested by the PWM business. Utilizing understanding of various aspects of the PWM business, and the underlying technology suite, communicate/coordinate with the business/technology users, and, as necessary, various departments within the firm. Responsible for the managing full project life-cycle from requirements gathering, coding, testing, acceptance review, installation and ultimately ensuring maintenance of the code implemented. Interface with the Firm’s federation and revenue divisions, including Finance Controllers, Finance Risk, Strats, and Operations to establish project governance, gather requirements, and validate the end product. Develop technical specifications, high level/detailed design, test and implementation plans from business requirements. Act as the subject matter expert in various financial disciplines and with a focus on solving issues with technical and operational solutions. Lead a large project team (10-50 members) and interface with the most senior members of business, operations, and technology leadership. Simultaneously manage and drive two (2) or three (3) large scale projects actively and at various phases of implementation.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, an Engineering discipline, or Information Sciences plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role. Must have five (5) years of experience within financial services companies, including knowledge of financial products (e.g. stocks, bonds, derivatives, etc.) and common technologies used in financial services (i.e. Sybase, Bloomberg, etc.). Experience should be specific to technical support of the business. Must have three (3) years of project management experience within a relatively new Project Management Office (PMO) structure working in financial services. Must have three (3) years of experience with IT project management or related experience, including: taking a variety of requests and organizing for estimation, planning and scheduling purposes; executing a technology plan, procuring/managing resources, and being able to communicate issues, and project needs. Must have three (3) years of business analyst or related experience including: interacting with end users at all levels of the organization, understanding business requirements, analyzing the requirements, conveying business objectives to technology and operations personnel (including discussions of ops efficiency, cost reduction, throughput, scalability, branding, and user experience), creating technical solutions, and creating design specifications, and translating them into technical requirements. Must have experience with: analyzing/breaking down complex issues into achievable deliverables, leveraging technology and operational processes to achieve an overall solution; communicating with senior business and technical leadership as well as with the most junior members of the staff as part of the process of driving critical project forward and performing critical roles required of an SME; understanding the technical stack and the pros/cons of various implementation strategies and technical tool selection; Waterfall and Agile software development life-cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
