Associate-Intermediate, Vice President, TECH111616SYFE

Duties: Associate-Intermediate, Vice President with Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York, NY. Design and develop software in Java to aggregate and decompose financial risk metrics in a distributed in-memory cache. Engage in requirements gathering, coding, testing, and managing the release process. Write and maintain software developed in a proprietary scripting language. Ensure software meets test-maturity and compliance standards, and updates as required. Manage hardware requirements, configuration changes, and upgrade requests to ensure production environment remains stable. Write and maintain job definitions and job dependencies in a job scheduling system. Prioritize/assign tasks to other developers, contractors, or interns, review their work/provide code review. Must be willing to work with proprietary technologies. No knowledge of proprietary technologies is required pre-hire.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Job Requirements: Master’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, an Engineering discipline, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role OR Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, an Engineering discipline, or a related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Must have five (5) years of experience (with Master’s degree) or seven (7) years of experience (with Bachelor’s degree) with: Sybase, UDB, and EMS; and Python, R, or some similar scripting language. Must have experience with: developing distributed systems and web-based UIs in Linux using Java; job scheduling systems, such as autosys; finance and statistics sufficient to write and explain software that calculates financial risk metrics, including Value at risk, Corrleation/Regression; regulatory requirements, including Volcker; and the full software development lifecycle, including eliciting user requirements and converting them into technical solutions.
