Duties: Associate with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Jersey City, NJ. Associate within the Alternative Investment tax team focused on hedge and private equity taxation. Review partnership and corporate federal, state, local and foreign tax returns and certain informational filings. Review tax estimates and K-1s provided to investors. Track tax documentation and status of investments. Respond to Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) tax related investor inquiries. Review US and foreign tax accruals monthly. Participate in fund launches and liquidations to assess and advise on tax reporting obligations. Review tax-related documents prepared by junior analysts and outside vendors. Timely escalate issues to senior members of tax team to ensure proper resolution. Interact regularly and effectively with the Tax teams in other offices. Make recommendations on how to improve current processes to ensure accurate results in a timely manner. Train and mentor junior members of the tax team. Interview and participate in selecting contingent workers and fulltime employees.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements: Master's degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Accounting/Accountancy or Finance and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related role OR Bachelor's degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Accounting/Accountancy or Finance and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Must have experience with: Hedge Fund tax; Private Equity Fund tax; applicable Federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) forms, including 1065, 1120, 6781, 8621, 8832, 8858, 8865, 8886, 5471 and corresponding state forms; Foreign Tax Withholding including FATCA, CRS, 1042-S and 8804; mentoring more junior members and reviewing their work; tax-related research projects, such as reviewing tax code and regulations for transaction impact; resolving Federal and State tax notices; communicating tax-related issues with multiple departments of a global firm and with external vendors; and resolving investors' tax-related inquiries.
