RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Americas Special Situations Group (AmSSG) is an investing and lending business focused on providing capital to mid-sized companies in both private and public markets. The group specializes in fundamental value analysis and has a number of private capital investment strategies which include middle market direct lending, structured investing, investing in asset intensive industries, portfolios of assets and distressed credit. Across strategies, the group focuses on leveraging its deep industry knowledge and fundamental credit, distressed, corporate, and asset valuation techniques to create attractive risk adjusted returns.

SSG's Asset Investing Group focuses on investing and lending against financial assets and leasable hard assets , as well as structuring financial solutions for platforms or companies involved in originating, accumulating or servicing those assets. Asset Investing primarily focuses on industry groups including commercial real estate, transportation, aviation and consumer / whole loans focused in the auto, credit card and commercial / franchise space. The group focuses on transactions across the U.S., Canada and South America.

Analysts and Associates in Asset Investing will gain a strong understanding of the financial services industry, significant experience in how to value financial assets of all types and how the investment process works across various investment strategies (including private equity, loans and purchases of portfolios of assets).

Basic Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Investment Banking or Principal Investing experience
  • Superior valuation, modeling and Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong accounting, finance, modeling and problem solving skills
  • Strong combination of organizational and interpersonal / communication skills
  • Keen interest in the financial markets and good commercial instincts
  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a positive
  • Relevant industry experience is a positive (real estate, consumer, transportation, general investing)
