RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Americas Special Situations Group (AmSSG) is a lending and investing business focused on providing capital to mid-sized companies in both private and public markets. The group specializes in fundamental value analysis and has a number of private capital investment strategies which include middle market direct lending, structured investing, investing in asset intensive industries, portfolios of assets, and distressed credit. Across strategies, the group focuses on leveraging its deep industry knowledge and fundamental credit, distressed, corporate, and asset valuation techniques to create attractive risk adjusted returns.
SSG's Asset Investing Group has an asset investing thesis, focusing on financial assets, leasable hard assets and across the capital structure of platforms or companies involved in originating, accumulating or servicing those assets. Asset Investing is primarily focused on consumer and whole loans (purchasing whole loan portfolios focused on these core asset groups: auto loans, credit cards, commercial/franchise loans), transportation and commercial real estate. The group focuses on transactions across the U.S., Canada and South America.
Analysts and Associates in Asset Investing will gain a strong understanding of the financial services industry, significant experience in how to value financial assets of all types, and how the investment process works across various investment strategies (including private equity, loans and purchases of portfolios of assets).
- Investment Banking experience (3-5 years of experience)
- Superior valuation, modeling, and Excel skills
- Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong accounting, finance, modeling, and problem solving skills
- Strong combination of organizational and interpersonal/communication skills
- Keen interest in the financial markets and good commercial instincts
- Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a positive
