Job Summary

Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) is seeking a Hong Kong-based Segment Leader to oversee the Business Development and Client Solutions team to foster growth of their Public Equity and Credit book of business, developing and maintaining effective existing relationships with a desired outcome to drive revenue and expand the footprint in the Greater China marketplace. In this role, you will have an opportunity to own a fast-paced and competitive book of business with clients based across the segment as well as in Greater China market to drive commercial and account management best practices for the key account and within your teams, motivate and closely coach account managers, and seek continuous improvement by ensuring your teams meet or exceed their commercial, development, compliance, and people goals.

You will work at the forefront of innovation by collaborating with business leaders to develop, communicate, and implement leading business performance improvement, technology, and people initiatives. You will be responsible for deepening relationships with existing professionals while identifying new and potential GLG advocates within current accounts and prospective clients. To do this, you will regularly present GLG's platform and engage with top level decision makers to identify opportunities for thoughtful collaboration. You will leverage GLG's CRM tools to track and map client accounts and work collaboratively with your internal colleagues to deliver a differentiated solution to our clients.

Business Development

  • Growing GLG's existing client relationships. Developing relationships with GLG clients, who are primarily senior executives within Public Equity and Credit. This relationship development will stem from in-person client meetings, telephone and virtual interactions. You will lead your team to develop deep relationships with key contact points at clients, and identify suitable opportunities for cross-selling, upgrades and other revenue opportunities from the GLG suite of product offerings.
  • New Sales Development and Account Management growth. Identifying and bringing on new clients in Greater China via a strategic selling lens. Key will be a proven ability to plan and prioritize sales and account management activities and customer/prospect contact towards achieving agreed business aims, including sales and revenue growth - especially managing team performance.
  • Enhancing the GLG brand in Greater China. Developing relationships across the industry, and acting as a mature, personable face of GLG in the market. Experience in Public Equity/Credit industry will be a plus.

Client Solutions

  • Support and grow GLG client relationships. Driving revenue and cultivate client relationship development in the respective segment stemming from proactive phone outreach, project execution, post project client feedback. Track team performance and create plans to accelerate growth and revenue near and long term.
  • Ensure best-in-class client service practices. Actively managing team performance and people development with close coaching of team members and support direct reports in their professional development plans
  • Facilitate high value engagements between GLG experts. This includes industry executives, independent consultants, academics, and former policy makers across all sectors and our clients while maintaining industry leading standards in Compliance.
  • Work closely with the GLG Councils Team. Developing relationships with GLG's most respected thought leaders and business professionals to drive business engagement.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or above
  • Over 10 years of account/sales management experience, ideally in Financial Sector with 5 years of team management experience
  • Consultative selling approach with experience selling and managing subscription-based relationships
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills, with a clear focus on sales, revenue growth and business profit, with track record of business growth/turnaround
  • The ability to build strong and lasting relationships with key decision makers in client firms and possesses a passion for problem-solving and delighting clients
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive, client service-oriented work environment
  • Experience with leading teams and success in global/cross-functional collaboration in a metrics-driven, entrepreneurial, and challenging environment
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and a passion for persuasion, especially around complicated and intellectually challenging issues
  • Outstanding communication skills and a team player. A demonstrated ability to read and understand people
  • Understanding of Public Equity and Credit Clients with experience interacting with senior executives within Public Equity and Credit segment
