Vector Integration Analyst

Basic qualifications:

Molecular biology skills including demonstrated experience of experimental design and processing of next generation sequencing (NGS) information and data analysis.

Preferred qualifications:

PhD or equivalent years of experience in Biological Sciences or computational biology.

GSK's Advanced Therapy Delivery team is being expanded to support an increasing portfolio of cell and gene therapies. The team is responsible for delivering the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) aspects of these therapies from early phase to market launch and the development of innovative technologies to enable step-change improvements to cell & gene therapy expertise and manufacture.

A highly motivated and independent individual is sought to work within this team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and performing analytical methods in order to:

  • Sequence and map the location retroviral vectors in primary cells or cell lines tranduced with therapeutic vectors
  • Develop novel approaches to understand and map retroviral integration sites
  • Track cell populations, especially in the context of the hematopoietic system

The successful candidate is expected to have a strong background in molecular biology or computational biology including demonstrated experience in the design of experiments using NGS to study genomes as well as bioinformatic analysis of NGS data. Hands-on experience of NGS is essential, as is experience using linux systems. A strong interest in the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals and/or experience of working with integrating gene delivery vectors in a range of primary cells is also essential.

This position will report to the manager of Vector Integration and Genome Analysis, Cell and Gene Therapy platform and will be based at Stevenage in the UK.
